Multicultural Coaching and Organization Development
Too often, firms and corporations report that they have a successful track record of recruiting top minority candidates, but as they review the "numbers", find that they are losing key managers, directors and vice presidents at faster, higher rates than majority executives. Or the hi potential minorities are not making it into the "partnership" or advancing to VP or C-level jobs at a commensurate rate as their "majority" counterparts. These are the challenges we address both with individuals and with the organization to realize the optimal performance of diverse teams and organizations.
We believe that:
- There is exceptional talent in organizations and that talent comes in all forms
- There are stated and unstated norms for success
- There tends to be a success profile in most organizations
- Many people of color do not fit the typical profile or if they do they still do not have the rate of advancement as majority members
- There are components of assessment that are subconscious… most of us are unaware of our unconscious biases in selecting and promoting talent and our biases in hearing feedback
- Individuals once made aware of issues are willing to learn if approached with sensitivity
We emphasize how minorities and companies can "learn" faster than their competition in utilizing talent effectively.
What We Do
- Use executive coaching to accelerate the development and effectiveness of high potential minorities and support their stakeholder' learning, thereby help increase the number of minority partners, VPs, SVPs, or EVPs
- Provide each client with tailored and confidential coaching support
- Identify and address issues related to racial sensitivities, potential lack of candor in evaluations, cultural integration and similar issues unique to minorities
- Match clients with coaches who bring appropriate racial, ethnic or gender sensitivity
- Partner with the internal Diversity and Talent Management organizations to create individualized or organization-wide solutions for the harvested systemic issues we uncover
- Our approach is one of "acceleration" ... it is not remedial in any way
- We coach the "individual" and the 'organization"
